Nothing can do a better floor cleaning than a broom. Although there are multiple gadgets available for cleaning purposes, the efficiency and powerful cleaning of a broom hasn't yet got a match. It is cheap, easily available, can clean any floor type and non toxic.

How To Sweep And Mop A Floor? - Cleaning Tips

For Sweeping:

1. Choosing A Broom: For tile and wood flooring (smooth floor) you need to buy synthetic brooms while rough floor requires fiber brooms. Your broom needs to be at a comfortable height so that you do not have to bend too much and should have a grippy handle. It should be a sharp edged broom to reach the hidden corners of the house.

2. Though there are various methods to sweep a floor, we suggest you to not to pull the pile of dirt from one room to the other. Instead, mark a starting point for every room and pile up the dirt into sections. Dump the dirt using the trash pan immediately.

3. If you are too bad at moving the broom then lets tell you the right way to sweep. You begin from right or left see to it you end the movement by dragging the broom towards you.

4. After the task, dust it to maintain it dry and clean. Hang it to avoid bristles. Do not wet brooms as they stink and get damaged too soon.

For Mopping:

1. Floor cleaning is generally carried out in two steps. First sweeping and then mopping. To mop a floor, you will require a piece of cloth or a mopper, a bucket of water, a disinfectant (phenol) and a pair of rubber gloves.

2. You get two types of moppers for floor cleaning. The string mopper for rough and sponge mopper for smooth floors. When you mop a floor you need to move backwards from the starting point so that your foot prints do not dirty the floor again.

3. Always squeeze the excess water (wringing) from the moppers so that the floor gets dry quickly. Mopping is just like scrubbing so apply pressure and move the the mop left to right.

4. Every time the water in the bucket gets dirty, change the water and continue with the floor cleaning. Do not mop wooden floor, wipe only if the floor is stained (in case of emergency).
