Carpets play a very important role in every home decor. These floor covering textiles not only design the floor but also give warmth to the room specially during winters. Maintaining carpets is not easy as the miniscule dust particles that settle in the fur of carpets makes it impossible to clean.

1.If you have pets at home, stains on carpets are unavoidable. Always keep pets clean to avoid odor and stains on carpets.

2.Avoid drinking and eating food on carpets and do not dust furniture that are on the carpet. Advice kids not to walk on carpets with dirty shoes

3.fresh stains on carpet can be removed with a mild soap solution and clean cloth. Dry the carpet in sunlight

4.Never rub spilled drink on carpets. Use an absorbent cloth or tissues to quickly absorb the stains. For stains on light colored carpets use hydrogen peroxide based cleansers than bleach-based.

5.For thin carpets (velvet carpets) can be hand washed or can be washed in a machine. Make sure the water is hot as hot water cleans better, and is more likely to kill some of the dust mites and other things living in your carpet.

6.To prevent problems like mildew that develops due to over-wetting, clean carpets on the bright sunny day days or on the days which aren't humid. Try sprinkling some baking soda on the carpet to avoid mildew and place them under fans to speed up the drying process.

7.Grease and tar stains on carpets can be removed with paint thinner. Rub the thinner with a clean cloth, add salt on the stain until it absorbs the grease, and then vacuum the salt particles.

8.For ink stains, rub alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) on your carpet. Add a few drops of alcohol on a clean light colored cloth and dab the stain carefully. Repeat the steps until you see no more transfer of color on cloth.

9.For Cigarette burns, trimming the burnt fibers on carpet may make the hole unnoticeable. Also, a small gob of waterproof glue into the burn hole will cover the spot.

10.Vomit is very acidic, and should be quickly diluted with club soda or a mixture of baking soda and water. If nothing else is available, water alone can be repeatedly applied and blotted up.
