Why Do People Suffer From Indigestion?
Indigestion is a common problem that a lot of people face nowadays. Mostly, indigestion is caused by common things but in certain cases it could signal the presence of serious illnesses in the body.
Indigestion, also known as dyspepsia, is just a painful or burning feeling in the upper stomach and is generally accompanied by sickness, bloating or gas, a sense of fullness and, occasionally, vomiting.
Indigestion can also cause pain in the chest combined with belching. It is a very common problem and might be triggered by several things.
While indigestion can be the result of an illness or an ulcer in the digestive tract, most often it is just the result of eating too much, eating too fast or eating high fat foods.

It can be caused by eating junk foods, drinking alcohol or carbonated drinks, eating too quickly or a lot of food, eating during stressful conditions, taking medicines that irritate the lining of the stomach, eating while being tired, having ongoing stress, eating fatty or spicy foods, smoking, drinking an excessive amount of caffeine or eating an excessive amount of high-fibre foods.
There are also drugs like aspirin that irritate the digestive tract. If indigestion symptoms persist or become more severe, or if you start to vomit, lose your appetite or shed weight, you need to consult your physician.

These signals can be an indicator of more serious illnesses like gastroesophageal reflux, a peptic ulcer, or in rare cases, stomach cancer. Indigestion may be the result of a disease in the digestive tract.
These might be commonplace signs for other problems, which is the reason why it is significant to consult a physician for proper diagnosis. Self medication might be dangerous or may address only part of the problem.

Those who frequently suffer from indigestion, must get it treated properly as mentioned earlier as it could signal the presence of a disease the person is suffering from. For others, natural cures like drinking peppermint tea and drinking lots of water help. Lemon, carom seeds or ajwain, ginger, etc. also help in digestion.
