Side Effects Of Green Tea
Green tea is an herbal product which increases antioxidant activity in the body. It has innumerable medicinal values and is used to prevent various diseases such as Cancer and Parkinson's. It is known to increase alertness, lower cholesterol, and shed extra pounds. But all that glitters is not gold, similarly, there are many effects of green tea which are not much talked about. So I thought maybe I should talk to you today about these side effects.
Green tea contains substances that might cause allergies. If consumed in excessive amount it can cause certain side effects which are taken extremely lightly by the first time users because of the lack of know-how. Some of the side effects of green tea which are often overlooked are nausea, headaches, rashes, swelling, and dizziness. But often they are followed by more severe ones such as anxiety, tremors, and seizures. Although allergy to this product is rare, but not completely unknown. Researches have proven that in certain cases people have to be hospitalized.

The side effects of drinking green tea while drinking excessive amount during pregnancy is , one might suffer a miscarriage. Also, green tea has caffeine which passes on to infants during breast feeding and can be extremely harmful for the little ones.

If anaemic, green tea makes it worse. Green tea and caffeine have a tendency to react with blood thinners. They make bleeding disorders worse as they delay blood clotting and cause excessive bleeding.
Green tea is also known to affect adversely in heart conditions. Due to presence of caffeine, it increases heart rate and causes irregular heartbeat.
The green tea side effects don't just end there. In fact, it is inadvisable if one is suffering from diabetes. This is mainly due to the fact that it affects the blood sugar control and may cause it to fluctuate. Also, blood clotting is a problem in diabetes aggravated by green tea.

Another major and most commonly found side effect of green tea diet is worsening of diarrhoea and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Due to caffeine in green tea one might experience increase in severity of diarrhoea.
Side effects of green tea can also be seen in glaucoma patients. The excessive consumption of green tea increases pressure inside eyes which could last for over an hour and a half and can be quite painful.
The caffeine in green tea is also known to increase blood pressure at times, especially in people with high blood pressure. This is not a regular side effect but it cannot be denied that it doesn't occur. Thus, people with high blood pressure should avoid intake of green tea.

Green tea has another grave side effect. Green tea extracts have been linked to cause of liver damage in certain cases or even worsen the situation involving a liver disease or damage.
Lastly, but most importantly for women, green tea is known to increase the flush of calcium from the body through urine. Women lose a lot of calcium all their life due to variety of reason. Intake of green tea could increase it and may cause Osteoporosis. In case of excessive intake of green tea one must make an endeavour to take calcium supplements.
