Holi, the festival of colours is here! People let their hair down and enjoy this auspicious day by throwing colours at each other or binging on special foods. However, there are many health tips that you need to follow so as to play a safe Holi.
For example, you must use organic and natural Holi colours instead of the synthetic ones. According to studies, synthetic colours contain lead oxide (black), mercury sulphide (red), aluminum bromide (silver), copper sulphate (green), which causes several health problems like skin and eye allergies, dermatitis and even temporary blindness.
Similarly, you must protect your skin. Applying oil on skin and hair is a simple trick that prevents Holi colours from causing damage. Often people do not notice but they get cuts while playing Holi. So, take precaution to ensure a safe and healthy Holi.
As it is the occasion for celebration, dieters skip their diet for a day and indulge in special festival delicacies. Not paying attention to what you are eating and drinking will lead to unwanted weight gain. Here are some important tips that you must follow to have a safe and healthy Holi.

During festivals, people get carried away by the festivities and indulge in rich foods which can lead to unwanted weight gain. So, watch out on what you eat.

Say No To Synthetic Colours
Synthetic colours contain lead oxide, mercury sulphide, aluminum bromide, copper sulphate, copper sulphate which causes several health problems like eye allergy, skin irritation and even blindness in cases of extreme exposure.

Go Natural
Instead of synthetic colours, use henna, flower petals, turmeric powder, sandalwood powder which are natural and does not effect the skin.

Allergy
People who are allergic to colours must avoid playing with colours. Individuals with a history of eczema are at a higher risk of developing allergies. In case you develop a skin allergy after playing Holi, take a non-sedative, anti-allergic tablet.

Skin Care
This is one of the essential tips to play a healthy and safe Holi. Cover the skin as much as possible. Wear cotton garments. Apply coconut oil on the exposed skin so that the colours do not settle down. The skin becomes dry due to the colours, so moisturise it as much as possible.

Treat Cuts
While playing Holi, the skin becomes soft due to constant exposure to water. This makes the skin prone to cuts and injuries. If you get a cut, treat it immediately. Wash off the colour and use an antiseptic to kill the bacteria and prevent skin infection.

Hair Care
Your hair too gets exposed to colours. Apply coconut oil and cover it with a bandana to avoid the colours from coming in contact with the hair.
