The reasons for sweet craving can be many. Sometimes you crave for sweets even if you are not hungry. This could be because gorging on sweets is a family tradition. May be after dinner you are used to having sweets as a form of 'feel good' food. The other reason could be a chemical in your brain which makes you happy when you consume sweets. Sugar addiction can be overcome by the following methods.

How To Stop Craving?

Sugar addiction makes you add excess calories. Sweets have more calories and less nutrition. They have more amount of saturated fats and trans fats too. Sugar is acceptable only in moderate level. If your obese then sugar consumption must be decreased.

Here are certain ways of controlling your sweet tooth.

Exercise- The best of way of controlling your sweet craving is exercise. Some times just a walk or engaging in yoga can lighten your mood. You will be able to control your sweet cravings by exercise.

Decrease Your Calorie Intake- The best way to stop your craving is to reduce your daily calorie intake. If your consuming too many calories then cut it. This in turn will reduce your sweet addiction.

Avoid Temptation
- To stop your cravings avoid any kind of temptation. Do not skip meals as this will make you hungrier and you will crave more. Keep tempting sweets away from your house. Keep your meals simple, do not prepare variety of flavors as this will lead to overeating. If you have many side dishes you will crave more and it will lead to over eating.

Healthy Eating
- Consume healthy side dishes which are sweet to taste. If you add fruits and some naturally sweet vegetables to your maincourse items then you will not be tempted for a big dessert. You can satisfy your sweet craving with food that has less calories and are naturally tasty. You can include a sweet healthy drink like lemonade with honey. It is very healthy and tasty. Maybe you can dress your salad with honey as this also will satisfy your sweet tooth.

Reasons For Craving:
At times it can be a mental state which is responsible for sweet cravings. Probably emotional eating can make you a victim of excess sweet consumption. To overcome such problems try healthy options.

  • Eat food which is tasty but high in nutrition.
  • When you eat sweets choose options which are low fat desserts.
  • Desserts which have fruits as the main ingredient are always better.
  • Make sure that the sweetener is a condiment and it's a minor ingredient.
  • Try adding berries and straw berries in your dessert, as it is filled with anti oxidants. They are also rich in vitamin C and these fruits fill your stomach.
  • You can make it tasty by adding whipped cream and some walnuts. This makes it very nutritious and tasty.

These methods can help you overcome your sugar addiction and help you lead a healthy life.
