With the rising need of owning a fit body, diet plans are being introduced almost everyday, with the sole purpose of starving you to the core and getting you the ideal bod within days. As time is a crisis for everyone, anything which is instant is taken to be good but we just step aside from the rat race and think, the instant diet maybe harmful. One such diet which promised instant weight loss is the hCG diet.

The hCG diet controversy sparked since the time it was introduced as it demanded intake of only 500 calories per day. The controversy has now been proved after Dr.OZ examined the diet more closely. Apart from him many other doctors also don't agree with the ways of this diet.

The hCG diet as mentioned earlier allows intake of only 500 calories and to control the hunger pangs, advocated shots of a hormone called the human chronic gonadotrophin (hCG). This hCG hormones are produced by pregnant women. A shot of this hormone one does not feel hungry even if he has not taken food. The diet promises the loss of to 30 Pounds in a single month. However, the FDA has announced that the shots used are illegal and fraudulent.

Side Effects of the hCG diet -

One of the most dangerous side effects of the hCG diet is Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS). This side effect of the the hCG diet is common among women following it. Under this syndrome the ovaries enlarge and results in serious health problems like abdominal bloating, nausea, dark urine, body swelling and breathing problem. The OHSS can also be fatal to life. Other side effects are – dizziness, blood clots, water retention, mood swings and breast tenderness. The most important thing to remember is that these common side effects are faced by every diet.
