Unhealthy Foods Spoiling Your Breakfast

Even after several reports written on breakfast being the most important meal of the day, we all still continue to skip it. For most of them the reason is lack of time and for others it is an attempt to loose weight. Lack of time due to career commitments and as an attempt to loose weight is a completely wrong reason, as skipping breakfast leads to putting on weight and may even cause obesity.

One of the basic breakfast benefit is weight loss. After a whole night fast, out body's metabolism rate, which is the rate in which our body burns calories, is reduced. Breakfast changes the metabolism rate once again, thus, enhancing the process of burning calories and resulting in weight loss. Thus, skipping breakfast, results in weight gain.

The second most important benefit of breakfast is that it is a great source of energy. I have heard my many friends complaining about feeling sleeping early morning at job. Breakfast is a source of energy. It charges your system and helps in function. Oatmeal in breakfast is one of the best sources of energy.

Pointing out these benefits of breakfast, it is important to remind you that grabbing a pack of biscuit or a cake cannot be called breakfast. Lets look at food which should be avoided in breakfast -

1.Processed Meat Like Sausages – processed meat is a food which should be avoided for breakfast. Usually on our way to office we grab a sausage sandwich, which is the worst breakfast. Sausages is one of the main things to avoid as breakfast, It contains unsaturated fat which is responsible for reducing the blood circulation. It contains high levels of sodium which tends to bloat the stomach making one feel uncomfortable.

2.Pastries – One of my colleagues in office has a pastry for breakfast everyday. Her reason, it is not time consuming. The sugar used in pastry is refined sugar which might result in energizing you which does not last long and the refined sugar also does not keep you full for a longer time as it has very little protein and fibre content. It rather enhances the hunger pangs which might lead to over eating.

3.Sugar Cereals – Sugar cereals are one of the new trends but the fact is that it is not a good breakfast. Sugar cereals are high in unrefined sugar, sodium and also contains some other chemicals. Sodium makes your stomach bloat making you feel uncomfortable and unrefined sugar heightens the energy level but it drops after sometime.

4.Only Juice – To only juice should be avoided for breakfast. Juice can be taken along with other food but to drink as a whole breakfast is wrong. Most of the fruits is citrus that it is has acidic quality. As we eat food, stomach secretes acid to digest the food. If only fruit juice is drank it adds on to the amount of acid in the stomach. When taken with other food, he acid content is balanced.

Avoid these four food for breakfast to start off your day in a healthy way.
