"Traditionally, patients with anorexia have been treated in a hospital setting or through one-on-one outpatient therapy. While inpatient treatment is still appropriate in acute cases, we have increasingly seen the value of family-oriented outpatient therapy for adolescents."
The study that is now being carried on is formed to compare two different therapeutic approaches that involve the family, one being the BFT focussed on weight, and the other assess different underlying family issues.
In the Maudsley Approach, developed in the 1980s in the hospital of which it was named after, anorexic teens attended the therapy sessions accompanied by their parents and sibblings said a Weill Cornell release.
