These Foods Help To Keep Infection Away During Winter

These foods have been found to keep the body warm and increase your immunity level so that you can fight off infections easily.

1. Clementines:
Clementines are an adorable winter citrus fruit packed with vitamin C and fibre.

2. Oranges:
Other great sources of vitamin C are oranges. In addition they include calcium, magnesium, phosphorous as well as potassium for strong bones as well as great muscle function. These also help to strengthen the immune system of the body.

3. Fishes:
Fish like Salmon, mackeral, tuna, etc. are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, that were shown in a few studies to help manage depression. With the decrease in sunlight, there are people who face bouts of depression during winter. These people must consume fish regularly during winter.

4. Fruit & Vegetable Juices:
During winter we tend to feel less thirsty and end up drinking less water. This can lead to dehydration and fatigue. So make sure to drink fruit and vegetable juices along with sufficient water during winter and stay away from sodas that dehydrate your body.

5. Peas & Pomegranate:
The other two foods that are rich in antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties are green peas and pomegranates. These are great winter produces that help to cure inflammation and provide a soothing effect on the body.

6. Whole Grains:
Staple foods in the Indian households, whole grains like rice, dal and chappatis made from wheat flour help to provide warmth to the body. Have these freshly cooked at home with your family and stay nourished throughout winter. You can also stock up on jowar, bajra and ragi and try them for variety.
