Toning is an important part of one's daily beauty regime, and it's important not to skip it. However, over the years, all the research on toning brought a lot of dirt up to the surface, and beauty experts began debating whether toning was really as good for the skin as it claimed to be or not.

After all, how good could it be to splash your face with a complex mix of chemicals immediately after cleansing it, some experts wondered. Shouldn't ice-cold water be enough to tighten pores, others asked.

Most toners contain alcohol, which is simply disastrous for the skin, as it strips the skin of the essential emollients it requires to stay soft, supple and wrinkle-free. Further, the harsh scents in most toners can damage the skin and even cause rashes and breakouts.

Toners also contain parabens, which are unsafe not just for the skin but for your overall health and the environment in general. Parabens have even been found to be carcinogenic and can increase the risk of neurodegenerative illnesses like Dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

It's not very difficult to make your own toner, one that does its job, is eco-friendly, is cost-effective and is certainly not a health hazard by any means! Here are five toners that you can make at home; pick the one you like best, or pick all five!
