4 Homemade Aftershave For Men
An aftershave is a lotion, gel or a liquid that is applied on the skin after shaving. Men use it to soothe their skin after shaving off their beard or moustache. An aftershave basically tones the skin and prevents any razor cuts, irritation or burns from affecting the skin.
Aftershave contains very little amount of alcohol and spices. So, why buy from market? Here are few homemade aftershaves that you can easily make without using too many ingredients.

Homemade aftershave:
Aloe vera: This is one of the commonest homemade aftershaves that is effective and skin friendly too. After shaving, you can massage your shaved skin with aloe vera extract. The gel or extract has anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties that protects the skin from razor burns, skin irritation and infections.
Tea tree oil: Massage the face with tea tree oil after shaving. This homemade aftershave heals razor cuts and soothes minor razor burns. You can mix tea tree oil with lavender oil to prepare a homemade aftershave using essential oils.
Orange peel zest: Use a lemon zester to remove all the zest form the orange. Mix the orange zest with rum, clove, cinnamon and a little vodka. Store in a dark and cold place for two weeks (keep it untouched). The alcohol will extract essential oils from the spices. Strain the mixture three to four times till the filtered solution is clear. Store in a jar and use after shaving.
Witch hazel and olive oil: This is another homemade aftershave that is good for the skin and natural too. Mix witch hazel with distilled water and few drops of olive oil. Add few herbs like lavender flowers, rosemary and lemon or orange peels. In a jar, add clove, cinnamon and the mix. Close the jar and keep in a cold place for 2-3 weeks. Shake the jar once a week. Strain the liquid in a strainer and store in a jar. Apply the homemade aftershave liquid to get soft and smooth skin.
These are few homemade aftershave remedies that are good for the skin. Follow them after shaving your beard the right way. To prevent itchy skin, razor burns or bumps, avoid washing your face with hot water. Do not wipe a wet face by rubbing the towel on the skin. Gently pat dry the face to avoid skin irritation. Moreover, do not keep your skin dry. Always cleanse, tone and moisturise the skin after shaving. Do you know any other homemade aftershave lotion, balm or liquid recipe?
