When Is Valmiki Jayanti 2023? Maharishi Valmiki is known as one of the greatest gurus and the first poet in Hinduism. He ia known as the traditional author of the religious epic poem Ramayana, which contains 24,000 shlokas and cantos. This epic is all about the life of Lord Rama.
The Ramayana is believed to have existed in the oral tradition during 1,500 BCE, but the fourth century BCE is generally accepted as the date of its composition by Sage Valmiki in Sanskrit.
