evening,
worship
the
couple
Ram
and
Sita
and
sing
aarti.

Janaki
Jayanti
festival

a

significance
in
Hinduism.
According
to
the
legend,
when
there
was
a
severe
famine
in
the
kingdom
of
King
Janaka,
he
got
a
golden
plow
made
on
the
advice
of
a
sage
to
get
relief
from
the
famine,
and
after
worship,
he
started
plowing
the
land
with
that
plow.
As
soon
as
he
plowed
the
land,
he
found
a
beautiful
little
girl
in
an
earthen
pot.
The
tip
of
the
plow
is
called
Sita,
hence
the
girl
was
also
named
Sita.
Mother Sita is worshiped on the day of Janaki Jayanti. Married women worship him for the happiness of their married life and the well-being of their children. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and pomp in Mithila.
