When Is Ganga Dussehra 2025, 5th Or 6th June? Know Date, Snan Daan Muhurat And Puja Rituals
Ganga Dussehra, also known as Gangavataran, commemorates the descent of the sacred River Ganga from the heavens to the earth. This auspicious day holds immense spiritual significance for Hindus, symbolizing purification, redemption, and the benevolence of the divine.
In 2025, Ganga Dussehra will be observed on Thursday, June 5, aligning with the Dashami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Jyeshtha.

According to Hindu mythology, King Bhagirath undertook rigorous penance to bring the celestial River Ganga down to earth to purify the ashes of his ancestors and grant them salvation. Moved by his devotion, Lord Shiva agreed to receive Ganga in his matted locks to mitigate her powerful descent, releasing her gently onto the earth. This divine event is celebrated as Ganga Dussehra, symbolizing the cleansing of sins and the flow of divine grace.
