Aja Ekadashi is observed with strict fasts and rituals and here's what you need to follow on this day.
In the early morning of Aja Ekadashi, one has to take a bath before sunrise and wear fresh clothes. Then the place of worship and the altar has to be cleaned before the idol of Lord Vishnu is placed. You need to PRAY with full devotion in front of the deity and then place auspicious items or puja samagri such as flowers, fruits, brown coconut, betel nut, cloves, incense sticks, ghee, Panchamrit Bhog, oil lamp Tulsi, Dal (pulses), sandalwood etc.

Once the worship is done, bhog is offered to the devotees as prasad. Aarti is performed in the morning and evening on this day. Fasting story is read as it is considered beneficial for everyone on this day. Also, some devotees stay awake the entire night and sing devotional songs, chant mantras, and engage in bhajan and kirtan dedicated to the lord. Further, on Dwadashi, they offer food and dakshina (charity) to the needy and Brahmins in the morning and break the fast by eating fruits.

There is a belief that by observing Aja Ekadashi, Vishnu becomes very happy, destroys sins, and showers an individual with happiness and prosperity. On this day, several important yogas are formed.

The special thing about this date is that both Pushya Nakshatra and Punarvasu Nakshatra will be present. Along with this, there is Ravi Pushya Yoga and there is also Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga. If fasting is done when these yogas are formed then one can also gain control over their fear and all their wishes are fulfilled. One should not consume rice on this day and refrain from plucking Tulsi leaves.
