Ahoi Ashtami 2023: Ahoi Ashtami is a special fast by Hindu women. They observe this fast for the long life and good health of their children. By observing fast on this day, mothers pray to Ahoi Mata for good luck for their children.
This festival is celebrated on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. This year Ahoi Ashtami will be celebrated on 5th November. On this day mothers perform special rituals, fast, and pray to get the special blessings of Ahoi Devi. Method
To
observe
fast
on
this
day,
wake
up
early
in
the
morning,
take
a
bath,
and
wear
clean
clothes.
After
this,
choose
a
wall
of
the
puja
room
for
puja.
Clean
the
wall
properly
and
draw
or
put
a
picture
of
Ahoi
Mata
on
it.
This
image
is
usually
made
using
red
clay
or
vermilion
or
a
printed
picture
or
sculpture
may
be
used.
Then light an oil or ghee lamp in front of the picture of Ahoi Mata. Flowers, fruits and sweets, or halwa can also be offered to Ahoi Mata. Milk and water can also be offered as bhog. After this, recite the mantras of Ahoi Mata and listen to the story of Ahoi Ashtami. After this perform the Aarti of Ahoi Mata. Goddess observe Nirjala fast the whole day. The fast is broken only after seeing the stars in the evening. Water is consumed after looking at the stars and blessings of Ahoi Mata are taken along with the children.
