Vibhuvana Sankashti Chaturthi 2023: In Hinduism, Vibhuvana Sankashti holds immense significance and this day is only observed in Adhik Maas, which comes every three years. There are numerous Sankashthi Chaturthi and each one has its own meaning, name and Peetha.
Adhik Maas or Purushottam Maas is very popular and the result increases manifold during this month, be it happiness, or prosperity. There is a belief that worshipping Lord Ganesha helps one to get rid of all troubles. So, by doing Vibhuvan Sankashti Puja, one can get rid of all troubles.

Significance
'Sankashti' is
a
term
that
originated
from
the
Sanskrit
language,
which
means
liberation
from
difficult
times.
Vibhuvana
Sankashti
Chaturthi
is
dedicated
to
Lord
Ganesha,
who
is
known
as
the
remover
of
obstacles
and
the
one
who
gives
his
devotees
the
power
to
remove
problems
from
their
lives.
However,
one
can
also
worship
Lord
Shiva,
who
is
the
father
of
Lord
Ganesha
on
this
day.
At night, one worships the Moon and follows all the rituals associated with the puja. It is said that by offering Arghya to the moon one gets happiness, peace and wealth. Devotees also observe fast on this day for both strength as well as intelligence.
According to the Hindu Calendar, there are two Chaturthi Tithis. One which falls after the full moon (Purnima) during Krishna Paksha is known as Sankashti Chaturthi, and the other one is observed in the New Moon (Amavasya) during Adhik Maas. Therefore, this Sankashti, Vibhuvana Palaka Maha Ganpati will be worshipped and the name of the Peetha is Durva Bilva Patra Peetha.

Rituals
On
this
day,
one
needs
to
wake
up
early
in
the
morning
and
take
a
bath
and
keep
fast
for
the
entire
day.
They
need
to
clean
the
puja
room
where
the
puja
is
performed
and
place
the
idol
of
Lord
Ganesha
on
a
wooden
plank.
The
idol
is
then
decorated
with
yellow
clothes,
flowers
and
Durva
grass.
Then
a
traditional
ghee
lamp
is
lit,
along
with
incense
sticks.
Ganesha's
favourite
sweet
Modak,
bananas
and
meetha
paan
are
offered.
The Sankashti Puja is performed in the evening, aarti dedicated to Lord Ganesha is done, Bindayak Katha is recited and then mantras are chanted. In the end, Arghya or water is offered to the Moon before breaking the fast. One is only allowed to consume sattvik food such as Makhana Kheer, Sama Rice khichdi and any milk products.
