This temple complex which is otherwise known as Chikka Tirupati is in Kallahalli, Kanakapura, Bangalore, and it has grown into a fascinating tourist attraction of Kanaka pura. Weekends are crowded here with pilgrims and devotees.

Kanikaranahalli or Kanakanahalli, as it was referred to, previously, changed its name to Kanakapura off late. This is a historically significant place that bears the stamp of many regimes and reigns of r Ganga, Chola, and Hoysala dynasties.

How Did This Place Come To Be Known As Vasishta Maharshi Kshetra? There are three idols of Balaji, Biligiri Ranga, and Kallahalli Balaji out of which two of them, namely Tirupati Balaji and Biligiri Ranga pose with their hands on their waist.

Here Kallahalli Balaji is seen holding a Gada in his hand. All three are monolithic idols and made powerful by the penance of Vasishta Rishi and hence this place came to be known as Vasishta kshetra.

How Was The Temple Built: Once the head of the village was visited by the Lord in his dream, who asked him to dig out the Venkateshwara statue from the bottom of a pond and then donate it to the village.

As he was bringing the Idol which he found at the pond, to the village, the bullock cart broke at place where Venkateshwara settled for good.

Every February, a grand Rathotsava is held that attracts people from all over. There are lodging facilities in the vicinity of the temple.

If you do not have an allergy to new and unknown places, you can as well stay at Kanakapura hotels. This place is full of green vegetation that soothes the eyes and hearts of the visitors.

What Is Common Between Tirupati And Kallahalli Temples?: Both temples have only Venkateshwara's idol and the idol of his consort is not seen next to him. Both these temples have installed the idol of "Navaneetha Krishna" wherein Krishna is seen holding the butter in his hand..

In both places have six corners that signify the six qualities of the Lord. During Brahma Rathotsava, the archaks conduct a Mahamangalarati seva to the Lord just before the chariot begins to move.

At this juncture, you can meet with a surprising phenomenon- that of a Garuda Pakshi doing pradakshina of the Chariot. This incident happens every time, every year the Lord's Ratha is taken out for puja and procession.
