Tirukkural-On Virtue-On Self Restraint-Kural 130

Arampaarkkum aarrin nulaindhu
An elegant translation of this Kural has been given by K Srinivasan as under:
'Virtue
waits
to
aid
him,
who
controls
his
self
and
anger
too'
Rajaji would say on this,
'Let a householder guard against careless speech and loss of temper, the rest will easy.'
An echo is heard in what Erasmus said:
'The spirit of God, delighteth to dwell in the hearts of the humble.'
The expression ' Karratankal' has been used differently in Naladiar and Sirupanchamoolam.
'Arivarindhthadangi
(Naaladiyaar-74)
'Kattradanginaan' (Sirupanjamoolam-3)
'Aaaindhavindhthadangiya
kolkaich
saanror'
(Puram-191)
The
idea,
contained
in
these
passages,
of
becoming
effectively
humble
after
learning
practically
all
that
is
there
to
know
in
a
particular
area,
is
a
really
meaningful
concept
beautifully
couched
in
the
Purananuru.
