Freedom From Envy

Thavvaiyaik kaati vidum
Here is an effective translation of this Kural based on Rajaji's:
The
Goddess
of
good
fortune
cannot
bear
the
sight
of
envious
people,
Whom
she
will
turn
over
to
her
elder
sister.
The
elder
sister
of
the
goddess
of
good
fortune
is
the
goddess
of
misfortune
-
Sridevi
and
Mudhevi.
The
former
cannot
put
up
with
envious
people
and
so
she
will
pass
on
such
cases
to
the
latter.
This
very
concept
of
Hindu
folk
mythology,
according
to
Rajaji,
would
explain
the
philosophy
of
the
Vedanta,
which
looks
on
pain
and
pleasure
with
indifference
as
on
two
sisters.
A person who cannot see and be happy about other people's good fortune, is not fit to enjoy good fortune himself, and deserves to be miserable.
