Thavaa adhu maenmael varum
No
grief
will
come
to
those
who
have
eliminated
all
desire;
Where
there
is
desire,
endless
sorrows
will
co-exist.
This again is a reiteration of the idea of the previous Kural, the desirelessness is the basis of all virtue and would lead to the achievement of life"s purpose. The concept has been explained with systematic emphasis in several chapters of the Gita.
In culmination comes the following passage:
'He who neither rejoices nor hates, nor grieves nor desires, renouncing good and evil, full of devotion, he is dear to Me"(Gita 12, 17)
