It has imbibed different philosophies and traditions and grown in its stature. It is a religion for everyone with peaceful intentions. It believes that world is a family that is knit closely together.

The world is connected through sufferings, joys, common human experiences and finally proves that world is a small place that connects like a family. Now as per Hinduism, what reasons are behind illnesses that plague the world. Let us have an overview.

We go through several lifetimes wherein we keep evolving with karma keeping count of our actions and inactions. There are not only good and bad karma but also akarma which is inaction/ Inaction is also a karma of a kind.

The statement "What you show you shall reap", explains karma in a nutshell. Due to karma, the lifetimes are created. As per scriptures, when the count of punya and papa ( sins) are equal and there is no more karma to do, the individual reaches salvation.

Till then, we have to gauging ourselves on its scale. An ancient scripture, the panchatantra says that the karma rebounds at the same age, at the same time, at the same situation, in the same way, with the same person you have harmed from the previous lifetime.

Sometimes the karma may fructify in the same janma and sometimes in the next. But it surely comes as a consequence of all our actions.

Scriptures say that the sicknesses hit us as a result of terrible sins committed in the past lifetimes. Some ominous sin committed by us attacks us in the form of diseases in the following janma.

Religion is a way of life that gives us golden parameters that lay for us the code of conduct and rules of humanity. According to Basavanna, dayeye dharmada moolavayya. This means the Dharma is all about showing daya or kindness.

The neverending rituals and customs and traditions are to be followed but dharma at the same time should be the main focus of all these observances. It is one thing to be a realized soul. But it is important to give it a framework of traditions that restricts the impulses from going out of control.

Traditions or Dharma can be likened to the border of a saree that gives it shape and meaning. With the inclusion of the border, the saree looks complete. So it means, we have to be spiritual as well as religious at the same time. Being spiritual and not following the conscience is not acceptable either.

Dharma helps you to spiritually evolve. For example, Dharma is not the end of spirituality. Rather, it is the first step. Following ideals or values is paramount to being a dharmic person. When Dharma is not followed. Karma follows us and gives us diseases that we know we can't sail through. When a dharmic person ignores the injunctions, as a response he falls sick.

When you have performed your karma and dharma sincerely it is believed that you go to heaven. Souls keep changing forms and acquire different births as per their previous karma and continue to evolve on the spiritual path.

Although ancient seers believed that it is only the body that goes through pain and soul cant be harmed in any way. If a person is sick, you know how to find the cause. A good balance of these three things helps our health in a big way.
