You Are Divine!

Ramana Maharshi, Divine World
Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi's teaching was direct that it directed the attention of the seekers immediately to the ultimate, which would have otherwise gone astray in tiring long processes. Bhagavan churned the ocean of scriptural truth, obtained the core of it, and presented the nectar of immortality for those who flocked Him, involving a simple way. For what can be more simple than the direct. Hence the Ramana way can be termed as a short cut owing to its directness.

T.K.Sundaresa Iyer , a devotee of Bhagavan, on reading the Upanishads, visualized the divine abode in the 'Sun God' and went about practising in that stream. His practice pursued even after coming under the fold of Bhagavan. Finding the practice tiresome, Sundaresa Iyer reported his difficulty to Ramana.

Bhagavan enquired in His usual way, "So you want to go to the divine world?"

Sundaresa Iyer answered, "Yes, in accordance with the scriptures"

Bhagavan said, "But where are you now?"

Sundaresa Iyer answered, "In your presence"

Bhagavan sympathised with him saying, "Poor thing, you are here and now in the divine and you are craving for the divine world elsewhere!"

He furthered enlightened, "Know that the divine world is WHERE one is firmly established in the divine. Such a one is full (Purna). He encompasses and transcends all that is manifest. He is akin to the screen on which the motion picture runs, but never affected by it, existing independently"

Ramana pointed out, "You are like a thirsty man waiting to drink while standing amidst neck level waters of the Ganges!"

Bhagavan consequently arrived at His direct method of self enquiry, "Let the "I" that wants the divine world die and the divine in you will be realised here and now! Know that the divine is here and now as your very self which is not different from what we term as the 'Brahman,' the nameless, formless, ultimate divinity. How are you to obtain that which is YOU, which is ever obtained?"

Bhagavan concluded revealing the all encompassing nature of the atman or the self, "The self in you is definitely not different from US!"

What can be more direct than directing the wayward attention to oneself , the ultimate, immediately then and there!
