Shravan Padmini Ekadashi 2023: Vrat Vidhi: Padmini Ekadashi is also known as Kamala Ekadashi or Adhika Masa Ekadashi and it happens during Adhika Masa, Malmas and Puroshhottam Masa. When Ekadashi is observed on Shukla Paksha of Adhika Masam, it is known as Padmini Ekadashi.

This year, it will be celebrated on Saturday, 29 July 2023. On 30 July, Parana time will be 06:09 am to 08:48 am. On Parana Day, Dwadashi end moment is 10:34 am. Ekadashi Tithi begins at 02:51 pm on 28 July 2023 and Ekadashi Tithi ends at 01:05 pm on 29 July 2023.

Padmini Ekadashi will be celebrated in Jyestha Nakshatra and two auspicious yogas will be formed during this time. One is Brahma Yoga, which will be till 09:34 am and after that Indra Yoga will begin. Jyestha Nakshatra will also remain from morning till 11.35 pm, after that it is Mool Nakshatra.

It is believed that by fasting on this day and worshipping Lord Vishnu, one can gain name, fame and Vaikuntha (eternal heavenly realm). Also, for those who desire a child, their wishes can be fulfilled on this day. Before one starts fasting or vrat for Padmini Ekadashi, one should follow certain procedures.   1. From the night of Dashami tithi, one should practice celibacy, and retire from daily rituals and only then observe fast. One cannot consume even water throughout the day while fasting.
  2. Once, the vrat begins, one needs to place Lord Vishnu's idol at the place of worship or Puja room and set up a Kalash and then worship him.
  3. Then anoint the idol of Lord Vishnu with Panchamrit and offer Nevaidya. After that offer flowers and perform aarti with incense and lamp.
  4. Recite Vishnu Sahastranam and Vishnu Purana and then listen to the Vrat Katha of Padmini Ekadashi fast. In case one is not able to perform a puja, one needs to find a priest who can perform it with complete rituals.
  5. On the night of fasting, one needs to stay awake and offer different auspicious things to God every hour at night. You can offer coconut, fruits, dry fruits and betel nuts in four phases.
  6. On the next day, which is Dwadashi, one needs to feed a Brahmin and satisfy him by engaging in charitable works or giving donations as per one's capacity.
  7. When everything is completed, then one can consume food and break the fast.
  8. On this auspicious day, one needs to abstain from addictive substances, non-veg food items, telling lies and any other activity that is blasphemous.
