What Is Dhaiya: Saturn is so slow moving that it takes about 2.5 years to move out of each house. It takes 30 years to complete a cycle and hence once in 30 years every one undergoes the phase of Shani.

Sade sati is made of three daiyyas, each daiyya comprising of 2.5 years of shanis presence. The first daiyya for a person starts when Shani transits to the 12th house in his horoscope, and stays on for 2.5 years there.
When he comes over to the first house, it is the second daiyya, the second phase of Shani.

When Shani arrives at the second house and leave this house to the third. All in all this takes about 7.5 years which is in totality referred to as Sade sati. Dhaiyya is also referred to as phases of Sade Sati.

1st Dhaiya: When Shani arrives in the 12th house of any person's horoscope it means that the first dhaiya has arrived. This house depicts the comfort and luxury of the individual. The first dhaiya is more focussed on heightening the luxury in the lifestyle of the person.

This may look good initially but the reality kicks in and leads to lack of comfort ultimately as the lavish spending will leads to financial breakdown in the person's life.
