Lord Vishnu is one of the Holy Trinity of Gods, the most important God who conserves, preserves and nurtures the creation.
Vaishnavism is a sect that is primarily meant to be predominantly Vaishnavaiteand it is one of the three edifices of Hinduism. God is known to take many incarnations off and on but only ten primary avatars are considered as full fledged avatars.

Here Lord Vishnu Wears The Necklace Gifted By Robert Clive: Varadaraja Perumal Temple located in Kanchipuram, was visited by Robert Clive who gifted the Lord with a grand necklance which was named as Makarakanti.
This has a very interesting historical background. He was a self made man who rose from nobody to join the band of very distinguished British officers.
This Makarakanthi necklace is displayed during processions of Brahmotsav in Kanchipuram. A particular incident in his life turned him into a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. There are two legends which reiterate the same point though,.
Robert Clive, during a battle near Kanchipuram, when he was returning from the scene of war, a canon unexpectedly fell near him but for Clive, it was a hairbreadth escape from disaster. He had prayed to Lord Vishnu to save him prior to that and he was saved, Hence he gifted a Necklace to Lord Vishnu.
As per another legend, he was caught in a thunderstorm and hence fell sick. But with prayers to Lord Vishnu, he recovered the next day. As a token of his gratitude, he gifted this necklace to Lord Vishnu.
This God Does Not Consume Salty Prasad: This lord is supposed to be the elder brother of Lord Balaji in Tirupati and is known by the name Uppiliyappan and stays about 5 km away from Kumbakonam.
Lord here has pledged to take salt less diet here in this temple and hence salt less diet and prasad is served to Lord and then the devotees. The prasad is the usual puliogare Pongal and dadhyodanam which is served without salt.
But the prasad tastes as if salt were added to the dish and the salyt taste is very much evident in the preparation although no salt has been added to it. This is one of the 108 divya deshams.
The Only Temple That Does Not Have A Vaikunta Dwaram: Every Vishnu temple has a special door called Vaikunta Dwaran which is opened on vaikunta Ekadashi and vaikunta Dwadashi. Anybody having darshan of the lord through these doors obtains vaikuntam.
But Srirangam, by itself, being a bhooloka vaikuntam, (Heaven on Earth)does not have a vaikunta dwara. It is a prominent temple amongst the 108 divya deshams.
The Only Temple Where Ram Is Seen Holding Sitas Hand: In the Erikaatha Raama temple, Madhuranthagam, near Chennai, Lord Rama is seen holding Seetha's hands. In no other temple can you see God holding his divine consort. But there is a legend about this goes thus.
During The British times, the water level in the Maduranthakam reservoir developed a huge crack and was about to blast off. The british governer of Chennai prayed to Lord Rama who helped finally. Hence Lord Rama came to be known as Eri kaatha Raamar Eri is lake and kaatha means safeguarding. Madhuranthagam is near Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The Only Temple Where Vishnu Is Seen In Gymnastic Pose: Vishnu gives a vamanavatar pose by lifting one leg up & the other the other down in the manner of a gymnast in three Divya desha temples namely Ulagalantha Perumal Kovil, Kanchipuram, Trivikrama Perumal Kovil, Sirkazhi, near & Trivikrama Perumal Kovil, Tirukovilur, near Tiruvanamalai.
These temples were where Lord took his three steps and hence he gives darshan in the same pose in all these three temples.
The Only Temple For Mohini Avataram Of Vishnu: Kalamega Perumal Temple: Located 13 kms from Madurai, Kalamega Perumal temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams The pushkarini is called swetha pushkarini and the Bilva tree is its sthala vruksham.
This Kalamega Perumal Temple is the only Vishnu temple that is dedicated to the female avatar Mohini of Vishnu. But he appears here as Kalamega Perumal with Mohana Valli as his consort.
According to one of the legends, Lord Shiva granted a boon to Bhasmasura by giving him the power to reduce any one to ashes by merely touching them. The evil demon chased Lord Shiva himself to keep touch Shivas head so that Shiva will be reduced to ashes.
Seeing this, Lord Vishnu transformed himself into a beautiful feminine form called Mohini. The demon was mesmerized by her beauty and wanted to marry her.
Mohini asked him to dance with her, by copying her steps as it is. While dancing, Mohini placed her hand on her head which Bhasmasura copied and was reduced to ashes immediately.
The Only Temple Where Vishnu Sports A Third Eye: The only three eyed god Lord Shiva, as per the general belief.
