Sawan 2023, Do Not Offer These Things On Shivlinga: The holy month of Shravan is going on. It started on 4 July and will continue till 31 August 2023. This month is dedicated to Lord Shiva and there are a lot of rituals associated with this day to please him and get the choicest of blessings.

According to certain religious beliefs, Shiva has been called Shipra Prasadi which means God who is easily pleased. It is said that even if demons and deities worship him during this time, they too get the blessings.

But, like his love, his anger is also extreme and therefore, one should not engage in the activities that Bholenath dislikes. 1. Tulsi
Vrinda (an avatar of Tulsi), a great devotee of Lord Krishna married to Asur king, Jalandhar.
Jalandhar had a boon and his power lay in his wife's devotion towards him and he misused the power and attacked the three worlds with the aim of ruling them. Due to this, Lord Shiva and Jalander engaged in a battle and Lord Shiva beheaded Jalandhar. This made Tulsi angry and therefore, Tulsi is never used in the worship of Lord Shiva.

2. Turmeric
Turmeric should not be used for Abhisheka or worship on Shivlinga. Turmeric is considered to be of feminine nature. Along with this, it is also used to enhance beauty. On the other hand, Shivlinga is considered a symbol of virility, so things like turmeric should not be offered on Shivlinga.

3. Sindoor and Kumkum
Sindoor is considered the most important part of Solah Shringar or marital life. It is also said to be a symbol of Shagun (auspiciousness). Whereas Lord Shiva is also worshipped as a hermit or monk. He is considered a sign of strength, fierceness and virility. That's why Lord Shiva applies ashes, and in many temples, Mahakal's bhasmarti is also done.

4. Ketaki Flower
According to a popular belief, once there was a fight between Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu as to who was the best. In comparison, Ketaki's flower supported Brahma's lie. Since then Lord Shiva got angry with Ketaki and refused to include the Ketaki flower in his worship ever again.

5. Going Full Circle
According to Shiva Purana, one should never do full parikrama after worshipping Shivlinga and should always go back to his starting position after taking half the circumambulation. The complete circumambulation of Shivlinga is considered inauspicious.
