It was the only thing which he did not possess. This young man displayed his virtues when he was tested and won the test of his might as well. His helpful nature and his innocence attracted even God's attention and he got something which he could not have got even after a lifetime of struggle.

It shows that honesty and transparent intentions can go a long way in protecting your interests and safety. A strong personalty will always shine thorugh any adversity and the dharma which Shyam protected in earnest, helped him at an important juncture of his life. "Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitaha".

The Story Of Two Fellow Travellers: This incident happened on a busy day in the streets of Puri Orissa. Two fellow cotravellers, an old man by name Shastri and a young man named Shyam, with an intention to visit Krishna temple of Vrindavan, were sitting next to each other.

Once they reached Vrindavan, they got down from the cart, and started walking the distance. The road to Vrindavan was not an easy one and was in a very bad condition. The youngster Shyam helped the old Shastri throughout and helped him reach the Vrindavan safely.

Pleased with the boys selfless help, Shastri literally choked in gratitude and told Shyam that he would give him whatever he needed. Humbly the boy answered that he wanted only the blessings of the old man and nothing else. Impressed with his greedless attitude, shastri thought deeply.

Shastri Asks Him To Marry His Daughter: He had a daughter of marriageable age for whom he was contemplating marriage. He wanted a worthy honest groom who would keep his daughter happy all through her life. He now realized that the boy Shyam would suit the bill perfectly and told him what he had on his mind.

They boy only told him that he was not so ambitious and all he needed was blessings. Then the boy and Shastri parted ways. Shastri came home and narrated the entire incident to his wife who fumed with rage hearing that.

She was not prepared to trust the boy Shyam and believe that he had such integrity. She was angry about shastri for promising his daughter in marriage to the unknown stranger.

When Shyam Arrives In Shastri's House: Some time passed and the boy Shyam suddenly remembered Shastris promise to him which was given long back. He was so gullible enough to believe Shastri and travelled all the way to Shastris home to ask for his daughters hand in marriage to him.

When he asked if Shastri remembered him, Shastri cleverly hid the fact and replied in the negative> the boy Shyam tried his best to make Shastri remember his promise but Shastri feigned ingnorance.

Then Shastris son darted forward with rage and asked Shyam why he was after his sister and what were his intention behind this. The innocent Shyam only told him that shastri had promised in front of the idol of Krishna.

The brahmins son then replied that he would give his sisters hand in marriage if Krishna himself confirms it for them, that the promise was taken in his presence. The next day morning he went to Krishna temple in Vrindavan and reported every thing to Krishna.

Krishna's Promise And Witness: Krishna told him that he would follow him to Shastris house to tell them that shastri had promised his daughter's hand in marriage with Shyam. Shyam said that Krishna had to appear in his form as Krishna at vrindavan otherwise people would not believe it is him.

Krishna told him that he would follow him as long as Shyam does not turn back to have a look at him. In case he turns backwards to make sure that Krishna is following him, Krishna would turn back into the idol form and he would just stay there.

But unfortunately Shyam turned his back to see if Krishna was coming on the way, and immediately Krishna turned into an idol and asked Shyam to bring all the villagers to the point where he stood. When Shyam informed the villagers, they rushed to the spot and saw a huge idol of Krishna.

Shastris family was fully convinced of the worthiness of Shyam. The village after this episode came to be known as Sakshi Gopal Krishna village and the krishna idol was called Sakshi Gopala krishna, which meant "The Gopala Krishna who provided witness"

Needless to say that the boy Shyam and the daughter of Shastri were married and lives happily ever after. Bhog that is offered to Krishna in this temple is sweets made of Wheat.
