Ramadan 2023: Rules For Unmarried Couples: Kissing, Touching, Physical Intimacy During Month Of Fasting
Ramadan is a holy month of fasting and is observed by people belonging to the Muslim community. The fast is kept from early morning to sunset and meals can be either consumed before sunrise or after the sunset as there are five prayers that are conducted throughout the day.
Also, it is not only food that one needs to abstain from, it is also the certain behaviours or activities that one needs to stay away from in order to shift their focus completely on mind, body, spirit, religious deeds, and charitable work.

What Are The Rules On Physical Intimacy, Relationship, and Marriage For Unmarried Couples During Ramadan?
You have questions or doubts regarding what is permitted and what is not during Ramadan. It is said that any kind of physical or sexual activity is prohibited during Ramadan. But, do you know if kissing, hugging, cuddling or even touching is allowed? Also, what does it mean to get married at this time according to the Islamic calendar? Let us take a look at intimacy and relationships during Ramazan.
1. No Kissing, Hugging, Or Touching And Engaging In Physical Activities
In the Holy month of Ramadan, during fasting hours, intimate activities are not allowed. However, it is okay for couples to kiss, hug, touch, cuddle and have sex before the fasting begins and after the fasting ends as long they are married to each other and are husband and wife. Unmarried couples are not allowed to do that, but not everyone across the world follows this rule.
2. No Organising Or Attending Parties
Couples do like to go to parties as it is a form of entertainment. However, parties where alcohol is served and people are engaged in physical or illegitimate intimate activities are prohibited during the month of Ramadan. Also, there is a list of permissible and impermissible acts that is mentioned in Islam under Halal and Haram Sex acts.
3. No Missing Fasting
Across the world, Muslims fast during the holy month of Ramadan which lasts for 30 days. If you are not able to fast then there has to be a valid or essential reason for that. It can be old age, illness, travelling, etc. else one is not allowed to miss fast for a single day due to non-essential reasons like laziness, going to a party, or a date, etc.
4. Chanting Prayers
This is done throughout the year, however, during Ramadan, chanting prayers are a priority over anything else, be it romantic relationships or going to parties or dates. This is one of the most significant practices in Islam and it is important to focus on praying during this holy month.
5. No To Wearing Revealing Outfits
During this time of the year, men and women must wear modest clothing and not revealing outfits. Be it acts, speech or physical appearance, they need to be modest in all possible ways. Modest clothing is the one that doesn't reveal one's skin and it is a loose of clothing. See-through clothing is a strict no which shapes the awrah (this is the intimate part of one's body which should not be exposed).
6. No Or Minimum Dates And Hanging Out
According to Islam, couples or people who are not married cannot kiss in the public and should be apart from their partners and spend time with their own families. This will help them to avoid any kind of temptations that can lead to intimate activities. In the month of Ramadan, it is best to avoid hanging out and not participate in sinful acts.
7. No Flirting
As per Dar Al Ifta, talking to the opposite gender is permissible under certain conditions, but flirting during a conversation is impermissible by all means. The same applies to married couples, and even they are not allowed to do excessive flirting because it can lead to sinful acts during the holy month.
