There are some religious and pilgrimage spots that celebrate all these festivals, especially the Janmashtami festival. They bear witness to Krishnas Childhood, adolescence and advanced years. Here they are. Let us have a glimpse.

1. Mathura

Mathura has every reason to celebrate festivals of Krishna as it is the place where Lord Krishna was born. The word Braj conjures up thrilling images of Lord Krishna and his leelas that were nothing less than a daily staple for the people of Braj. Also known as Krishna Janma Bhoomi, Mathura is situated at the heart of Braj bhoomi. Krishna's major portion of life was spent here and hence it is regarded as a major point of pilgrimage related to Krishna. Janmashtami acquires a different celestial colour in Mathura which celebrates it in the grandest manner possible. This city is full of Krishna temples where on festivals, it is at its colourful best with people decked in colourful ethnic attires and enjoying the celebration to the hilt. Ras leela is performed extensively on this day as this depicts the story of Krishna in its engrossing details.

2. Gokul

Gokul is the lap of divine miracles and Krishna was the one who gave it a divine twist and a history never to be forgotten. From the Mathura prison to Gokul, the journey was arduous and long and it was his father who bore a great responsibility in carrying baby Krishna to Gokul where he was destined to grow up because just one careless step on Vasudeva's part, would reveal the details of their whereabouts to Kamsa who was waiting to kill Krishna. Kamsa's thirst for blood did not come to an end, even after killing 7 children of Vasudeva. He constantly sent his band of demons, one after the other, to search and kill Krishna. On the other hand, Krishna used to encounter the demons, kill them in a miraculous way and send them successfully to yama loka Several miracles were performed here, and hence Janmashtami is celebrated with great pomp and ferver here.

3. Vrindavan

Vrindavan has several temples erected here as this is where Lord Krishna spent all of his adolescence here with Radha. Several Radha Krishna temples remind us of the tale of divine love that is a part of the heritage of Vrindavan. This is a small place that is renowned for its spiritual ambience as a place that is connected in soul and essence with Krishna. Janmashtami is grandly celebrated. The entrancing songs on Krishna and Radha fill the air with love and devotion on the day of Janmashtami and the entire town is a part of the celebrations. Vrindavan is where Krishnas presence is felt even today. Nidhivan in Vrindavan is one of those places which enjoy Krishnas presence even today.

4. Dwarka

Dwarka, the once famous city that was a witness to Krishnas administration, his mercies, and leelas now finds itself submerged under the sea which is a pathetic end indeed to the city and its inhabitants. It was not just recognized as Dwaraka but it was respectfully called Dwaraka kingdom. It is a popular city in Gujarat that is home to the kingdom of Krishna or what remains as fragments of its memory. Upon the instructions of Krishna, this city was built by none other than Vishwakarma in just two days' time. Although Krishna sent quite a long time in Mathura, he finally relocated to Dwarka after killing Kamsa. Janmashtami is a classic event that is celebrated grandly here. Once ruled by the Yadava clan, Dwarka was most notable for the reign of Yadava king Krishna who had to vacate Dwaraka for sometime to Kushasthali to escape the continuous warfare with Jarasandha, the father in law of Kamsa who wanted to avenge Kamsas death under Krishnas hands.

5. Barsana

Located 45 km away from Mathura and, this village, enveloped with hills on all four sides, offers a pretty sight that you will remember for life. Barsana is where Radha was born, the favourite consort of Krishna whom Krishna could not ultimately marry. But he spent some time in Barsana with Radha during his childhood. Barsana also has several temples dedicated to Radha and Krishan. So an inseparable connection exists between Barsana and the divine Duo. Shriji Temple or Shri Laadli Lal Temple, is a famous Radha temple situated in Barsana which has 225 steep steps to climb in order to get inside the temple. It is the most famous temple of Barsana where Radha grew up, as a daughter of Vrishabhanu, the Yadava ruler of Barsana and Kirtida. Barsana was originally known as Brahma saran.,

6. Kurukshetra

Kuru was the forefather of pandavas and kauravas and the famous battle of Kurukshetra took place here. Bhagavad Geeta starts with the shloka Dharmakshetre kurukshetre .... which means that this Kurukshetra was also a Dharmakshetra, or a land of dharma. Kurukshetra is located in Haryana and this is where Lord Krishna, shed his leelas and fun side of his personality to show his vishwaroopa, his real self which seemed to have no beginning or end, omnipotent, and omnipresent as witnessed by Arjuna, who had not seen something like this all his life time. Krishna is supposed to be the vriddhavatar of Lord Vishnu means the older and mature version of Lord Vishnu and this was evident in the ultimate philosophy of life that he offered on a platter to Arjuna, his staunchest devotee
