Navratri 2023 Day 1, Maa Shailputri Puja: This year's Shardiya Navratri is going to start from 15 October 2023. On these nine auspicious day, nine forms of Maa Durga is worshiped. According to the Hindu Calendar, Shardiya Navratri falls in the month of Ashwin and is counted as the most auspicious day.

On the first day of Navratri, Kalash is placed which is known as Ghatsthapana, and Akhand Jyot is burnt. The first day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Shailaputri. She is considered the daughter of Himalaya. Worshipping the goddess and chanting of her special mantras, Goddess Shailputri is pleased and maintains her blessings.

Goddess Shailputri Worship Method
On the first day, first of all, install the picture of Maa Shailputri on a wooden post by spreading a red cloth. Write 'Shan' on the post with the help of saffron or sandalwood. Before worship, remember Goddess Shailputri by keeping a red flower in your hand. The auspicious time of puja will be from 11:38 am to 12:23 pm. Offer intact, white flowers, incense, lamps, fruits, and sweets to the Mother Goddess. Chant mantras during the puja and then worship Mata Shailputri. After worshiping, perform Aarti with full devotion to Goddess Shailputri. Do puja and aarti of the mother goddess once in the evening also.

On the first day, offer a sweet made of milk to Mother Shailputri. Sweets made of white color and milk can be offered. Pure cow's ghee can also be included in the offering.

Chanting of some special mantras is also necessary during the worship of Mother Shailputri on the first day of Navratri. Those mantras are as follows.

"Vande Vaishchitlabhay Chandrardhakritshekharam.
Vrisharudham Shuldharam Shailputri Yashasvinim.

Punendu Nibham Gauri Muladhar Sthitham Pratham Durga Trinetram.
Patambar costumes Ratnakirita Namalankar Bhushita.

"Prafull Vandana Pallavadharam Katankpolan Tung Kucham.
Kamaniyan Lavanyam Snemukhi Kshinmadhyam Nitambanim ॥

"Or Goddess Sarvbhuteshu Shailputri Rupan Sansthita.
