Mathura Holi 2024 Dates, Schedule: When Is Lathmar Holi In Mathura, Barsana, Brij, Vrindavan?
Mathura Holi, also known as the "Lathmar Holi," is a unique and vibrant celebration of the festival of colors that takes place in the city of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, India. This traditional Holi celebration has a special significance and is known for its lively and energetic atmosphere.
The Lathmar Holi in Mathura is celebrated in the week before the main Holi festival. It is famous for the playful ritual where women playfully hit men with sticks (known as "lathis") while the men try to shield themselves. This ritual is said to symbolize the playful teasing and flirtation between Lord Krishna and the gopis (milkmaids) in Hindu mythology.

The Lathmar Holi festivities in Mathura also include vibrant processions, traditional music, dance performances, and the throwing of colored powders and water. The entire city comes alive with joyous celebrations, attracting visitors from all over India and the world.
Mathura, being the birthplace of Lord Krishna, holds immense religious significance for Hindus, and celebrating Holi in this city is considered especially auspicious. The festival is a time for people to come together, forget their differences, and celebrate the arrival of spring with colors, music, and dance.
Actually, the dates of the Holi festival which will last for 40 days have been announced. Holi celebrations start in Mathura after Vasant Panchami. This year the Festival of Colors started on 14 February and will conclude on 25 March.
