Lunar Eclipse 2023: How Does It Affect Our Health From A Traditional Point Of View
From the traditional point of view, our ancients had their observation and experience-based theories which they handed down to us to the present. Our Grannies will usually have a bunch of theories.

They used to predict rains, and predict changes in life from the way a person took his breath, and from the way he approached them. They also used to predict whether a woman would have a male or a female issue through their own calculations which defy science even today.
All this was before Science had been introduced to us. There have been many theories that have bneen proved wrong by science. But still some theories have managed to gain acceptance amongst the common people.
There is evidence for the fact that it has rained whenever the Parjanya Japa has been chanted. Kigga in Sringeri is a place where it is still felt and experienced. Dignitaries visit this place frequently. This cannot be totally undermined.
This is an attempt to give a benefit of doubt to the ancient knowledge. We have to assess the Granny's using the scientiific parameters and understand it in a scientific light. Some of the ancient theories work and some do not.
Be it Solar or the Lunar, both impact health significantly. Be cautious about how you care for yourself during this time. Let us go through some ancient health beliefs about Lunar eclipse.
Although you can see a lunar eclipse with bare eyes, it is better you avoid it. Lunar cycles and menstrual cycles have a lucid relationship between each other. Lunar eclipse actually synchronises the menstrual cycle.
Aside from this, astrologers base their calculations on the lunar cycles and tithis and predict what kind of a child is going to be born to the woman in question.
Coming to fertility, it affects it profoundly. Although moon is astrologically considered to be the symbol of fertility, it does affect the baby if it is born on the eclipse day. It is important to understand that the cycle length of every woman differs from that of the other and also individual health conditions differ.
The Chandra Grahan in 2023 can affect the food items adversely. So avoid cooking during this time. The already cooked food should be thrown after the eclipse period. Prepare food afresh later.
Moon as per astrology, has a direct effect on the human mind as it rules the mind. Many people might have noticed that problems of people with psychological disturbances will flare up during this time. Symptoms of anxiety and depression are found to be aggravated and even insomniacs find it difficult to manage this phase.
Our kapha element gets imbalanced during the eclipse. This imbalance can cause skin problems like, acne, pimples, early signs of ageing, etc. This myth is not based on science.
But to reduce the kapha effect, you can take dry ginger with water. Elders say that food gets contaminated due to the change in atmosphere and environment and does lead to stomach upsets etc. Protective glasses are advised to be worn during this time.
But Moon rays are not as harmful as the rays of the Sun. According to NASA, people only need a binocular or a telescope to watch the lunar eclipse in enhanced view.
