Kuber Bhandari Temple: Lord Shiva Blesses Devotees Here With Wealth And Progeny
Kuber Bhandari temple, as you might have imagined, may be about Kubera. Also called Kubereshwar Mahadev, it is primarily a temple of Mahadev ( Lord Shiva) but also as per legends, Kuber also had settled here for a long time in a bid to escape Ravana's attack.

Hence Lord Mahadev or Lord Shiva is known as Kuber Bhandari or Kubereshwar. Why Lord Mahadev (Shiva) is called Kuber here, is yet another legend by itself. Bhandari when translated means " the one who is a repository or reservoir."
One can spot Kuber Bhandari temple on the Banks of Narmada River at Karnali Village, near Vadodara district. Perched 800 feet above the Bank of Narmada, any one who visits here never returns disappointed.
One has to climb 700 steps from River Narmada to reach this temple. Kuber Bhandari is one of the most famous temples here.
Legends Associated With This Temple: When Lord Shiva and Parvati were strolling along the thick jungles near Reva river, Parvati Devi felt highly thirsty and looking around, there was no sight of water at all as this place appeared to be very dry and barren.
Lord Shiva understood the plight of the people in the area and the barrenness of the soil, and made this area very fertile.
A legend has it that Ravana confiscated Kuberas wealth and his vimana. Narad Maharshi asked him to go to the banks of the river Narmada to do Tapasya. Kubera prayed to Lord Shiva who in turn blessed Kubera with safety and told him that he could rule over that area and that Ravana could never enter this area.
The temple is believed to be around 2500 years old. Every day, a different variety of Bhog is offered to God. On Dhanteras onwards, for 4 days, a bhog made with 56 types of ingredients is offered.
Interesting Tidbits About This Temple: An interesting thing about his temple is that devotees are allowed to offer flowers, and milk Abhishek themselves. People with Sarpa dosha, and childlessness have found their solutions in Kubereshwaras blessings.
Devotees of Shiva gather here in large numbers especially on Somvati Amavasya and Poornima. Many types of pujas are conducted on the banks of Narmada.
The days on which the temple gets extremely crowded are on Maha Shivaratri, Dhanteras, Diwali and the holy month of Shravana.
Nilkanth Dham Swaminarayana temple and the 182 feet high, tallest statue of the world of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel are found in proximity of this temple.
