Krishna: The 16 Kalas That Make HIm The Purnavatar Of Lord Vishnu
Krishna is considered the eighth and purnavatar of Lord Vishnu. He was deemed to be his older and mature avatar where as Ram was Vishnu's youthful avatar. What made Krishna a perfect incarnation? Let us analyse.

Krishna showed perfect responses to all situations and handled every hassle with perfection. He showed at every instance his Paripurnatva which means, perfection, and saved dharma from Adharma. In fact, he had 16 kalas, at the instance of his incarnation on earth.
Rama also had 14 kalas when he manifested himself on earth which is due ot a different reason. Ravana, whom he had to kill in this incarnation, had asked for a boon from Brahma that no God should be able to kill him. Hence if Rama had exhibited 16 kalas at birth, Ravana would certainly know about it and also he could not be beaten by Rama, since his 16 kalas would prove him to be a fully God incarnate.
So Rama behaved like a human being, cried for Sita, did not use his superpowers to cross the sea but just built a bridge like a human being. The last two kalas he was born without are Paripurna & Swarupavasthitha). Paripurna means complete knowledge of all forms of awakening. Swarupavasthitha means being established in his real true self.
But Krishna did not show any human weakness all his life, and used his brains and brawns and not his heart to solve or respond to any problem. Everyone, be it his devotees or common men, were the recipients of his love and universal compassion. He was unshakeable in the face of any opposition, be it constant or occasional. He used supernatural powers to subdue the demons. His powers came to the fore the instant a wicked deed surfaced on earth. His characteristics are as follows. They represent the 16 kalas
(1) Daya (Kindness)
He showed mercy to his enemies as well. When Shishupala hurled abuses at him, Krishna fell silent for the first 100 accusations from him and when he went beyond his control, Krishna severed Shishupalas head with his chakra. He was merciful towards his gopa friends and his villagers whom he saved from thunderstorm by lifting the govardhan hill with his little finger.
(2) Dharjya ( patience)
His patience was astounding. Not only he showed patience with Jarasandha, the father in law of Kamsa who was constantly sending his forces to raze Mathura to the ground and immobilize krishanas government. He refused to take on Krishna on a one to one combat because Krishna did not match his social ranking. So Krishna allowed Bhima to fight Jarasandha and then finally when Jarasandha turned unbeatable due to the boons that he had been blessed with, Krishna thought of a master plan and got him killed through Bhima.
(3) Kshama (Forgiveness)
When he was meditating in the forest by reclining on the ground below the tree shade, a hunter, mistakenly shot an arrow at his feet. Krishna forgave him and left the world. Even while leaving the body, he did not show any trace of anger towards the hunter.
(4) Nyaya ( Just And Fair)
Although demons were troubling him, He always fought for justice and not to avenge his personal hurt due to them. He had no personal ambitions but only had a goal, to establishing dharma.
(5) Nirapeksha ( selfless)
He worked for the welfare of his subjects and helped the powerless and helpless people without expecting anything. He had accumulated nothing for himself/ He called nothing his own. His slaying demons, did not have any selfish intent behind it. He did not do it for recognition or fame.
(6) Niraskata (Detachment)
He was detached from everything and everybody although he was living in a palace with Rukmini in the lap of luxury. All that was on his mind was to save his devotees. God is attached to only his devotees and not anything else.
(7) Tapasya ( Spiritual Penance)
He was a yogi of the top order who taught Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. His spiritual powers were evident in the way he destroyed the mightiest of demons when he was a little baby.
