Krishna's Heart Still Beats Inside The Puri Jagannath Idol!
One fine day on 18 February around 3102 BC Krishna, as he was resting under a Banyan tree, meditating deeply. A hunter by name Jara Shabar who mistook his feet to be a deers face, shot an arrow which Krishna took as a pretext to pass away and reach Vaikuntha.

This hunter Jara was none other than Vaali in his previous birth, who was killed by Lord Rama in Tretayayuga. Vaali took birth as a hunter in his next lifetime in Dwaparyuga and had this karmic duty on himself to kill Rama who was the cause of his death in previous life.
As Krishna Left To Vaikunta Loka
Upon hearing this tragic news, Pandavas assembled there and finally cremated Lord after Arjuna pulled out the arrow from lord's foot. Pandavas later cremated Krishna in the Bay of Bengal. But a wildly interesting thing was that Krishna's heart was still found burning and beating. Lord Krishna had left his mortal body but his heart had not stopped beating. Later upon divine instructions, it was set afloat in a river inside a wooden log, and then it turned into a blue stone.
Jara Shabara found it and secretly worshipped it in his cave as long as he lived and then handed it over to his successors who also continued the worship. Indradyumna, the king, who had visited their house due to some reason or the other, took the heart and It began to continuously vibrate after this incident. He took it to his city of Puri. He decided to build a temple for Lord Krishna and began the preparations by keeping the heart that came along with wooden case in side a wooden idol of Krishna. It came to be called Brahma Padartha, which meant a thing that was made of elements of Brahma.

But
this

We

Placing Brahma Padartha Inside The New Idol
Neem wood is used to make the idol of Lord Jagannath and it gets remade every 12 years once. When it is changed, the Brahma material in the old idol gets transferred to the new idol. But people do this process entirely blindfolded as they believe there is a sharp blue light that glimmers from the heart of Jagannath that is capable of blinding the human eye at one go. So they ensure they do not see this light while changing the idol. When the priests carry the idols for changing them once in 112 years, they feel as though a rabbit is wiggling and jumping out and in from their hands. Apart from this experience, they haven't had any other paranormal experience. One more belief behind this phenomenon is that the idol and the Brahma Padartha, if seen with bare eyes, will immediately cause death to the person who tries to see it.
Miracle Of Brahma Padartha
Locals believe that the heart can generate electricity since it vibrates all the time. When exposed to light it begins to vibrate all the more which is probably the reason why the electricity is switched off when the Brahma Padartha is being shifted to a new idol. There is a belief that the person who takes part in this ritual passes away and merges with the lord within the next year. Very secretly this procedure is conducted in the dark new moon midnight. Priests are selected carefully for this purpose.
