Gayatri Jayanti is celebrated every year on the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Jyestha month. This year Gayatri Jayanti is on Wednesday, 31 May 2023. This day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Goddess Gayatri, who is known as the mother of all Gods. It is said that Mother Gayatri represents Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Kali.

This day is very auspicious for the students. It is believed that by worshipping on this day one gets special blessings from all three goddesses along with Gayatri.

It is believed that Goddess Gayatri resides in all the living beings in the worlde. Worshipping on the day of Gayatri Jayanti with a true heart and following all the rules and regulations gives as much virtue as studying the Vedas. Apart from this, with the mother's blessings, there is happiness and peace in the family as well. If students take special measures on this day, the obstacle in their education is removed and success comes their way.

The Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Jyestha month will start on 30 May 2023, at 1.07 pm and will end on the following day i.e. 31 May 2023 at 1.45 pm. Nirjala Ekadashi fast will also be observed on this day.

Gayatri Mantra is one of the most powerful Mantras in the Hindu scriptures. It means 'May the Almighty God illuminate our intellect to lead us along the righteous path'. On the day of Gayatri Jayanti, students must chant Gayatri Mantra.

According to the scriptures, by worshipping Mother on the day of Gayatri Jayanti and chanting Gayatri Mantra, happiness-prosperity remains in life and knowledge also increases. Chanting Gayatri Mantra on this day is considered very auspicious, especially for the students. It is said that all four Vedas originated from Goddess Gayatri. This is the reason why Gayatri Mantra is considered to be the essence of the Vedas.

  • On this day, devotees wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take a holy dip in the river. Then sit at the place of worship facing east and chant Gayatri Mantra 108 times with Rudraksh's rosary.
  • They use only Kusha or red colour seat.
  • They light a ghee lamp at the place of worship before chanting Gayatri Mantra.
  • Before starting the chanting of mantras, they keep a copper vessel filled with Ganges water and put basil in it. After chanting, sprinkle this water in your room and eat basil leaves.
  • They sprinkle this water regularly in the room. By doing this, it is believed that they will be full of wisdom and will be sharp and they will not forget the remembered subject for a long time.

Gayatri Jayanti is observed during Shravana Purnima and this day is also observed as Sanskrit Diwas. It is on this day the mantras related to Gayatri Mata are chanted repeatedly. Goddess Gayatri is known to be the consort of Lord Brahma and she is known to be an avatar of Goddess Saraswati. She is known as Veda Mata, which means mother of all Vedas as well. She is the embodiment of Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Parvati and Goddess Saraswati.
