Garuda Purana insists that a person should never deviate from the righteous path and never make any mistake in his life. To do this, one has to listen to the conscience. He will benefit from the results of his good karma only after his death.

The soul of the dead stays in the same house for 13 to 14 days during which time it will benefit from listening to the Garuda Purana read by his living family members. Hindus widely believe that Garuda Purana should never be kept or read at home. But in reality it should be there in every house but it must be read only when someone dies in the family. It presents life in its gravest scenario to such an extent that, after reading it, you will no more be bothered even if a tragedy strikes you.

Before deciding what to do about a situation, consult your karmic sense or your conscience so that you will be rightly guided. Reading this book has its own benefits. It grants you uninterrupted success. It bestows peace of mind. It liberates you from the worldly thought. It removes any trace of negative energy in the environment. It not only makes you emotionally and financially stable, it also enhances your peace of mind and domestic harmony.

You must refrain from doing certain things, especially if you are a woman, as it causes misery and squalor in the house. Let us see what they are.

1.Unwillingness To Donate food

Of all danas, or donations, donating anna or food is considered to be the best daan. The kind of good karma or punya that you accrue from this immeasurable. It is an act of piety and the anna dana will keep your next 7 generations in peace and prosperity which is why donate as it suits your budget and feed the needy. You also gain their good will and the heartfelt gratitude that works as your lucky mascot in times of trouble.

2. Not Being In Physical Proximity

Ardhangi means wife. It literally means that she is half portion of her husband. That is why in English they call her as the better half. Garuda purana says that she should never keep herself away from her husband and live with him together and enjoy te marital bliss.

It is very important even when you are having serious disagreements with your husband. Staying away from each other leads to emotional estrangement, emotional wandering, problem in the relationship as well as problems that refuse to get solved despite serious attempts. This will not augur well for the prosperity and peace to prevail in the family.

3. Do Not Be Impolite

Insult no one, be it your friend, stranger, or enemy. No one deserves to be insulted. Hurting others is equal to physically harming them. What if you are insulted? Harsh words hurt others and pierce their hearts. Hurting another as per the shastras, is the ultimate sin that one could commit. This is a grave error that weighs more than the Pancha maha pataka, the five most terrible sins.

If someone treats you well and is soft spoken, do not hit back with barbs or insulting retorts. These kind of things never augur well for the peace and prosperity of the house. So a woman is the chief representative of the house and she needs to be responsible and careful. These mistakes bring untold misery and hardships and these kind of mistakes boomerang on the doer harshly.
