Ganesh Visarjan 2023: It is a significant and auspicious Hindu ritual and is celebrated with a huge pomp. Lord Ganesha is the elephant-headed God who is born to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

One of the most awaited and grand festivals, Ganesh Chaturthi began on Thursday, 19 September 2023 and it continued till Thursday, 28 September 2023. It commemorates the birth of the Hindu deity Lord Ganesha known as the god of wisdom and prosperity.

Dos For Ganesh Visarjan

  • If you have a Ganesha idol at home, then you can use a bucket filled with water and do the visarjan at home.
  • During the Visarjan, you can offer Lord Ganesha incense, flowers, fragrance, food, and oil lamps.
  • You can use a red cloth and put dry items such as dry coconut, jaggery, and five different grains in it.
  • You can tie this around Lord Ganpati's idol so that he can use this food during his homely abode.
  • You can give a holy bath to Lord Ganpati's idol using holy Ganga water, milk, and normal water.
  • While you are proceeding with the visarjan, keep in mind the shubh muhurat.

Don'ts For Ganesh Visarjan

  • You must not continue the immersion or visarjan of the Ganesha idol without checking the muhurat.
  • Without performing a puja, and offering a bhog, bidding farewell to Ganesha is not allowed.
  • While taking the idol for immersion and until it is completed, one should not close the door of the house.
  • Without the garlands and decorations, you should not immerse the idol of Ganesha.
  • You should remove the ornaments before immersing Ganesha in the river and keep them in a safe place with care.
  • Before the visarjan happens, you can take the coconut and move it around the idol's head three times and break it on the ground.
