Why The Month Of Shravan Is Significant?
The month of Shravan is the official beginning of the Monsoon in India. Although the rains have started about a month back, this will be the peak of the Monsoons. In Hinduism, the month of Shravan is not just associated with the rains. There is a lot of significance attached to Shravan as it is a holy and auspicious month in the Hindu calendar.
Some communities among the Hindus eat vegetarian foods during the month of Shravan. It is not only because this is a scared month, but also because the rains can cause a lot of stomach infections. It is best to eat light.
To understand the significance of Shravan, you need to take a closer look at the rituals associated with it and here they are.

is
a
month

Lord
Shiva.
But
very
few
people
know
the
actual
cause
behind
this.
The
'Samudra
Manthan'
happened
during
this
month.
While
churning
the
great
ocean
gave
amazing
gifts
like
Goddess
Lakshmi
and
a
pot
of
'Amrit'
or
elixir,
but
it
also
fumed
the
terrible
poison
called
'Halahal'.
Lord
Shiva
came
forward
and
swallowed
this
poison
to
stop
it
from
infecting
the
Universe.
That
is
why,
this
month
is
totally
dedicated
to
Lord
Shiva.
Shravan
Somvar
Monday
is
the
special
day
for
Lord
Shiva.
That
is
why,
every
Monday
that

is
extremely
auspicious.

a
