Ram lila is also celebrated in late September and October along with Vijayadashami. This traditional dance drama was supposed to have been started and spearheaded by Sant Tulsidas. Jewelleries, crafts, masks, headgear and make up are used to enhance the visual effect of Ram Lila. Ayodhya is synonymous with the grandeur of Ram Lila celebrations. Kathak dances and songs also are performed after the Ram Lila events conclude. Between the months of July and August, from the third day of the second half of shravan, till the end of the month, the Ram Lila is enacted.

Celebration Of Ram Navami

ll the temples of Ayodhya have Ram, Sita and Laxman placed on Swings. Idols are drawn in chariots in a procession around the city to reach the Mani Parvat where they are placed on swings with people chanting the ram nam constantly in the background. Songs extolling the virtues of Lord Rama's virtues are sung by devotees in the background which goes on up to the conclusion of the procession.

It is celebrated in many important spots of worship or temples at the same time in Ayodhya including Hanuman Garhi, Ramkot, and Kanak Bhawan,. Hanuman Garhi is the most important place of worship next in importance to the Ram temple, in Ayodhya. Located in the centre of Ayodhya, this temple is the first one you should be visiting before you visit the main Lord Rams temple as per the beliefs and scriptural restrictions.

Legend Behind Hanuman Garhi

This was a cave originally where Lord Hanuman used to stay to guard Ramkot. Before leaving for Vaikunta Loka, Lord Shri Ram blessed Hanuman and entrusted him with the rule of Ayodhya. Hanuman decided to reside in the Hanuman Garhi which is at a short distance away from Ram temple and guard Lord Rams abode in Ayodhya. This temple has a shrine for Anjanadevi, mother of Hanuman, holding Bal Hanuman who is stiing on her lap. Locals believe that the deity addresses all the problems of devotees.
The 'Kanak Bhawan' is the grandest temple that is built with magnificent architecture dedicated to Ram and Sita which is situated in Uttarpradesh, in Ayodhya,

Otherwise known as Sone Ka Ghar, it houses images of Lord Ram and Sita wearing golden crowns. So now we can understand why it is called Kanak Bhawan. Historically speaking, the decision to grandly celebrate Shivratri in Kanak Bhawan was made by Kusha the son of Rama.

The Story Of Kusha

As per the local legend, while taking bath in Saryu river, Kusha lost his armlet which was picked up by a naga kanya who fell in love with Kusha. She was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. So to honour her feelings Kusha built this temple for her where he arranged to have Shivratri celebrated every year. Surprisingly this temple survived despite destruction of Ayodhya after the Era of Ram concluded. Vikramaditya is known to have located Ayodhya only by recognizing this temple first.
