Chanakya was a guru who taught us all the lessons of life, in all its aspects. Chanakya has a special place of respect and importance in our society. He had a correct assessment of how people would behave in certain circumstances with respect to all periods and eras. His words hold good even in today's world and hence it is a habit with some of us to read the Chanakya Niti before arriving at any important life decision.

Although Chanakya Niti tells us not to hide anything from wife/husband, as offends the relationship ethics, he makes another important statement according to which there are certain things, about which you must keep mum with your wife/husband as well. It almost means that any thing that causes rift in the relationship should not be shared. All these are exceptions to the rule which we study one by one.

1. Actual Salary Should Be Kept As Topmost Secret

In case you are earning in six figures and your wife comes to know about it, the very next day, you will find huge shopping bills, bills for purchase of costly items and so on. Being an economizing person, you may not like your wife to indulge in mindless expenditure just because you earn well. Sooner or later, this attitude may soon lead to problems, rift between the couple. So be careful about this.

2. Do Not Tell About Your Charitable Deeds To Your Wife

It is an important thing not to discuss about your charity deeds with your wife. In case you report it to her, how much you donated, to whom, and where. If you have spent money on someone, keep this information away from the wife. The charity will be useless if you divulge it to your wife. Frist of all, she might not even think it is a good idea to donate. She may dub you as impractical too.

3. Weaknesses Should Not Be Divulged

A husband should not reveal his weaknesses to his wife. She might leak your secret to her mother, her sister or her close friend in which case you are in trouble. Your reputation unnecessarily suffers. You also may have to bear with insults hurled against you from time to time, reminding you of your weakness. If you do not want something about you to be known to the public, please avoid revealing it to your wife also.

4. Do Not Reveal It If You Are Stuck In Some Problem

If you have got into any serious muddle in your life, it must not be revealed to your wife. Your inefficiency may become the object of ridicule in your wife's eyes. If you are in some kind of a trouble, do not seek solutions with your wife. Try to solve it on your own or behave as if nothing happened. She may think you are not smart enough for her because you could not diffuse the problems on your own. She may offer some advice to you, on how to solve the problem. It may not be good for your ego. So be careful about this.
