Bel Patra is known for the presence of Holy Trinity in it. It was the droplets of Goddess Parvati falling on the mountains that created this tree. Presence of Goddess Parvati is distributed in different parts of the Bel tree. Goddess Parvati resides as Girija in the roots, as Maheshwari in the trunk, as Dakshayani in their branches, as Parvati in leaves, as Katyayani in its fruits and as Gauri in its flowers. So, the entire tree contains her in all her forms. Jains consider bel Patra auspicious as their 23rd tirthankara obtained nirvana through penance under this tree.

Shabar Mantra:
"Om hreem shreem thham thham thaam namo bhagwate
Mum karya karyaani sadhay sadhay
Maam raksh raksh sheeghranaam
Dhaninm kuru kuru hoom
Fat shriyam dehi, pragyaam dehi,
Mamapattim nivaray nivaray swaha"

"ॐ ह्रीं श्रीं ठं ठं ठं नमो भगवते
मम कार्य कार्याणि साधय साधय
मां रक्ष रक्ष शीघ्रनां
धनिनं कुरु कुरु हुं
फट श्रियम देहि, प्रज्ञां देहि,
ममापत्तिम निवारय निवारय स्वाहा |"

Place a bel patra with three leaves in your hand and chant the above mantra 7 times and then place it on the Shivling This should be started on the First Monday of Shukla paksha and should be continued at least for 40 days. You could also do it daily for better results. This mantra should be attempted with extreme caution and care as Shabara mantras can have their side effects.

Inauspicious Days For Plucking Bel Patra

Your hands should be clean, in order to pluck the Bel Patra. Take a bath, wear fresh clothes and pray to the tree to bless you while plucking its leaves with clean hands. Wash it with water after plucking it. It is a best practice to write Om on each leaf with Sandalwood paste before offering it to Lord Shiva. See that the top of the leaf is pointing towards you and the stalk is facing the Pindi during the time of offering.
There are certain rules to be followed while plucking the bel leaves for puja. Bel Patra should not be plucked on Chaturthi, Ashtami, Navami, Chaturdashi and Amavasya, on Mondays, and on Sankranti, You cannot reuse a bel Patra that has already been used for Lord Shiva worship. Belpatra should never be plucked entirely along with the branch; only the stalk of three leaves should be plucked..

Significance

Since godly presence is found in this tree, it is called Shri Vriksha. Offering Bel Patra on Shivratri, gets you the merits or punya of performing 1000 sacrifices. Offer Ghee, food, kheer or sweets to the root of the Bel tree and Poverty never visits your home. By worshiping the Bel root, you are freed from all sins. Bel leaves if consumed sets right the malefic effects of Tridosha in the body. If Bel leaves are showered on the Shivling on the night of Mahashivratri, even the most devastating karmic effects are wiped out of the life of the devotee.
If the marriage is facing problems, perform Abhishek with water on Shivling on five Mondays, and present 108 leaves of Belpatra. Chant Panchakshari mantra while offering Belpatra and submit your prayers as well.
