Are Mahanavami And Ram Navami The Same? Know The Differences

Two Important Navami occasions always have people confused as to what to follow and what not to follow because one of the Navami is called Ram Navami and the other is called Mahanavami. Both are definitely not the same as they are dedicated to two different deities. Both are celebrated with equal fervor on different dates during different seasons. The ninth day of Sharadiya Navratri is known worldwide as Maha Navami. People have so many times mistakenly sent each other Ram Navami greetings instead of Maha Navami greetings.
There are a few basic differences between Maha Navami and Ram Navami.
Maha Navami
Maha Navami is one of the nine days of Sharadiya Navaratri that arrives In the month of Ashwin, usually between September and October. Every day of Navratri Durga's various Avatars are worshipped and devotees observe fasts on all nine days and if that is not possible the fast is observed on the first two days or the last two days of Navratri. Goddess Siddidatri who is the ninth avatar of Goddess Durga, is worshipped on the ninth day which is also referred to as Maha Navami. Worship.
Maha Navami leads to Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami on the tenth day which was the day Lord Rama killed Ravana the king of Lanka. This was also the day Goddess Durga killed Mahishasura and both the above occasions associated with Lord Rama and Goddess Durga prove the oldest adage on earth " Satyamev jayate" that it is truth alone that triumphs at the end.
Ram Navami
Ram Navami is observed on the Shukla Paksha of the month of Chaitra in the month of March- April which is the day when the nine-day festivity of Chaitra Navratri concludes. Ram who is the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu was born on this ninth day of Chaitra Navratri that is on Ram Navami. People worship Lord Ram on a large scale on this day of Ram Navami, and fast the entire day in his remembrance. Ram Navami is celebrated in different ways by his devotees. Most of them listen or read up the entire Ramayana.
Some people organize Ram Sita Wedding on this day. But every town and city has its own festive celebrations which includes setting of huge pandals, installing of huge Rama idols, conducting mass worship, and most importantly Ram Navami concerts are arranged in most cities where in Classical music still exists as a part of culture or cultural memory. Great music stalwarts perform free of cost on this day during Ram Navami Festivals. The Ram Navami Prasad and Maha Navami Prasad are unique in their own way and prepared with great care and love by devotees.
