Simple Meditation Techniques To Stumble Upon Peace

Peace is a state of mind, the mind in its purity without the interference of chattering thoughts. This inner peace is experienced at the fulfillment of desires or at successful achievements. While our endeavours are met externally, the result of being in peace is internal. Hence peace is inherent.
How is to invoke this inner peace which, is solely one's own, in unfavourable situations as well? Since it is understood that peace is the desired thing beneath all our endeavours, let us shift peace to be the desired aspect of all our undertakings than the endeavours themselves.
Let peace assume the paramount position in our lives, simply to live in peace.
Though earnest practice is needed to strike perfection, simple meditation techniques invokes the inherent peace in us. Invoking peace is to simply bring back the experience of peace felt before.
Meditation techniques to stumble upon peace
1) While concentrating on an object, like a deity, the flame of a candle etc can reduce the rush of thoughts to one single thought, the object of meditation. Such practices leads to peace in the long run. However meditation happens to be the inner peace, the experience that arises out of such activities.
2) Stumbling upon peace in itself, is one of the powerful yet simple meditation techniques to experience a prolonged state of peace. This is much more simple, though looking complex,when compered to concentrating on objects. The object meditated is fleeting and does not remain steady throughout in the mind.
Stumbling upon peace is simply invoking the peace experienced before; a feeling of fulfillment and peace that one had experienced while looking at river, or while feeling the brush of a gentle breeze against one's face, the sudden suspension of thoughts in a peaceful atmosphere etc to mention a few.
Swami Madhurananda, in his book, 'Effortless Meditation' describes stumbling upon peace as entering into an effortless state of peace consciously, yet gently without doing it like an intended practice.
3) Ramana Maharshi's self enquiry is a direct method to experience a thoughts suspended mind in purity, even if the experience is momentary. This exposes one to prolonged inner peace, when practised continuously. It also one of the profound yet simple meditation techniques, when understood correctly.
4) Focusing on the breath is one among the simple and age old meditation techniques that can slow down the chattering of the mind. It is also recommended by Ramana Maharshi second to Self enquiry.
Simple meditation techniques that we brush aside as difficult, can make peace, a profound state in us. When peace is desired as the desired aspect, it simply lets one live in peace, to not only experience peace but to abide in peace.
