The East facing chokkanatha swamy temple was erected as a result of a great penance done by a great sage during the times of yore.. Hordes of devotees who visit here pray for issues related to marriage, health, children, education, prosperity and job.

It is one of the oldest temples, dating back to 1200CE As per Lord Vishnus instructions to the sage, people must not forget the final remembrance of God at their final moments which actually helps them reach the feet of god.

The idol in the sanctum was installed at such a height that it could receive the cosmic energy and radiate it at all eight directions. The placing of the idol is such that sun rays fall on the main deity at sunrise, during some days in uttarayana and dakshinayana.

This is the first temple in Bangalore with pranic energy points radiating the healing energy in all directions. Built in chola style, this temple houses the Idol of Chokkanatha Swamy accompanied by Bhoo devi and Sridevi within the sanctum.

Architecture And Interiors: There is also a temple well and a small Brindavan garden. Sculptures and statues and large pillars deserve a special mention. One of the pillars has dashavatara etched on it.

You can see countless tamil inscriptions on the walls and pillars. During the temple's latest renovation, saligram from the river Gandaki was brought to carve the idols of Chokkanatha swamy and his consorts.

Entrance to the shrine is lined with well carved wooden panels. Two dwarpalakas, installed at the entrance give a grand look. The main deity is Sri Vishnu worshipped as Sri Chokkanathaswamy with his consorts Goddesses Bhudevi and Sridevi.

The idols are made with Saligrama Shila which is found in the Gandaki River, Nepal. The attire code you have to observe is traditional. Hoysala kings have also contributed to the renovation of this temple.

Pranic Energy Points: Chokkanathaswamy Temple is widely famous for its Pranic energy points. Two pranic energy points are inside the temple while 12 of them are inside the premises of the temple.

The spots inside the premises are marked with white squares wherein the devotee has to stand inside the square facing the shrine and pray to God.
