1. Do Not Consume Garlic And Onion
You must refrain from consuming garlic and onion during Chhath Puja and also avoid these while preparing any food items at home. It is considered inauspicious as it is considered non-veg or tamasic items in Hinduism.

2. Do Not Use Plastic Utensils
While offering water or Arghya to the Sun God, you need to use earthen utensils only and abstain from using silver, steel, and plastic utensils.

3. Do Not Eat Anything Before Arghya To Sun God
Women must keep fast before offering Arghya to the Sun God. Consuming anything before this is considered inauspicious. Also, they must sleep on the floor while observing fast.

4. Do Not Use White Salt While Cooking
Chhath Puja fast is considered one of the toughest fasts and therefore while preparing food Arwa rice and rock salt are used for 10 days before the puja begins.

Do not spoil the bhog or eat anything before making it. Also, you need to ensure everything is clean including your hands and the kitchen area where the prasad will be made.
