Chanakya Niti: How To Uphold Your Self Respect
Chanakya was a living example of self-respect and lived a life of dignity and confidence intact. His book on Social mores and values namely Chanakya Niti helps to have a correct approach to life and solve the problems as and when they come. By following it, we can never make mistakes or suffer for mistakes that are not ours. His work has shown the right and the righteous way to many people suffering inside the darkness of their tunnel. Go ahead and find out how he advised human beings on the importance of self-respect.

Never Tolerate Insult
Only you have to answer your challenges and no one ever will, on your behalf. We have to carry our own burdens and there won't be a co traveller in your journey who is willing to pick it up and carry it some distance for you. If the insult is hurled at you, it is in your court and you are answerable to the blow. When we fail to answer the insults, the scars remain and linger for a long time and kill our peace and confidence from within. Each insult is a challenge and an attempt to mock at our abilities or the lack of it. We need to prove ourselves every time there is an insult thrown at us. How long can your loved ones answer on your behalf? You are on your own when it comes to shielding yourself from the blows that others deal. Anticipating the questions and preparing oneself with an answer is one of the ways to deal with insults. Another way is to use your intelligence to respond back with equal speed and force.
Honour Your Self-Respect
Always do not give up defending yourself. Do not keep your self-respect preserved safely always. Speak up whenever there is a situation that belittles you and makes you feel less worthy. You may hurt a few so called friends with your honest blunt answers but it is better to speak up than suppress your individuality and self-respect. You may have friends who do not mean well and you may get into a situation where you have to talk back to them to clear your stand. Go ahead and do it. It is better to live with your head held high rather than bending it down without a reason.
When Someone Insults And Shames You Continuously
If a person lets loose a continuous barrage of insults on you and refuse to let go of it, take sincere action against it and do not sit tongue tied. If a lie is told a hundred times, people start believing it and similarly if someone keeps on lying about you and hurts you, people slowly start believing the other person and disrespect slowly creeps in their talk and behavior towards you. Finally, your respectful position in society will take a blow and finally it will cease to exist.
So whenever someone starts saying something about you, get your antenna alert and give back in the same coin instead of sacrificing your reputation to their tongue. If someone shames you for what you are not, don't take it with a pinch of salt. Get back and prove yourself to them. Dignity is a far more valuable object and to own it, you should be a person of substance. Remember this and save your dignity from crumbling down and getting a beating.
