Ayodhya Ram Mandir: Who Is Arun Yogiraj? Know About The Sculptor Of Ram Lalla Idol

The construction of the grand Ayodhya Ram temple is now in its final stages and the Pran Pratishtha or Concecration program will take place on January 22, 2024. The construction of not one but three statues for the temple has been completed.

The idol of Ram Lalla made by a Mysore sculptor Arun Yogiraj will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum. In total, there will be three idols. So, the remaining two which will be kept in the other parts of the temple will be prepared by sculptor Ganesh Bhatt of Bengaluru and another by Satyanarayan Pandey of Rajasthan.

The three sculptors made three statues for the temple.

According to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, one idol has been finalized for Pran Pratishtha, while the other two idols will also be installed in other parts of the temple. The statue of Arun Yogiraj has been selected for consecration. This statue is 51 inches tall. It will be made to sit on a lotus flower seat in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

The total length of this idol along with the lotus flower will be 8 feet. Ram Lalla will be seen in a standing position. The most important thing about this idol is that it shows the child form of Lord Rama.

Through this idol, one can see his 5-year-old child form. For this reason, bow and arrow will not be shown in it. Krishna stone has been used for the construction of this idol which was brought from Udupi, Karnataka.

Who Is Arun Yogiraj?
Craftsman Arun is the most famous and in-demand craftsman in the country. He started sculpting at an early age. His father Yogiraj and grandfather Basavanna were also craftsmen. Five generations of artisan Arun's ancestors are associated with this artistic profession. Arun Yogiraj also has an MBA degree and worked in a corporate job for a few years, but came back to become a sculptor and made a name for himself with his art.

How Many Statues/Idols Did Arun Yogiraj Build?
Arun Gopiraj has created many important sculptures of the country. The statue of Subhash Chandra Bose behind India Gate was also made by Arun. Along with this, the 12-foot statue of Adi Shankaracharya installed in Kedarnath was also made by Arun Yogiraj.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also praised his work. Along with this, he also created a 21 feet high Lord Hanuman statue in Chunchankatte in the Mysore district, a 15 feet high statue of the Father of Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar, a white Amritashila statue of Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa in Mysore, a six feet high monolithic statue of Nandi, a 6 feet tall statue of Banashankari Devi. He has sculpted many important statues, including the tall statue, and the 14.5 feet high white Amritashila statue of the King of Mysore.

Why Ram Lalla's Idol Is Special?
He has made the idol of Ram Lala for the Ram mandir of Ayodhya with full devotion. His mother says that she did not see her son working on this particular idol or the final idol, she says that she will go to Ayodhya Ram temple on the day of consecration. He is very happy to see his son's success.
